Vacillating between Poem, Academic Lecture, Drama, and Ritual, Near & Nigh explores the intersections of Identity and Culture, Mythology and Academia, Destruction and Creation. The third and final play in "The Tetzcatlipoca Cycle," Near & Nigh follows the journey of a Mexican-American Poet/Academic as he struggles to embrace the sense of conflict within himself as well as between him and the world he lives in. Will he be able to bridge the gap separating past and present so as to find a desperately needed opportunity for change, growth, and understanding?
There will be an opportunity to provide feedback to the playwright after the reading. Any insights and curiosities to offer to develop the piece further are greatly appreciated!
