According to Augusto Boal, the Brazilian theatre artist who created Forum Theatre as a style of performance, “The theatre is a weapon, and it is the people who should wield it.” How can theatre help us build a more just world? Join us as we consider that question–and many others–through this dynamic, interactive play focused on social justice topics that matter deeply to Loyola students. All performances will take place in the style of Forum Theatre, which is intended to spark an embodied, townhall-style exploration of the obstacles people face as they try to survive and even thrive in this complex world that we all share. The specific social justice topic(s) explored in this performance will not be finalized until August in an effort to ensure that they are freshly relevant for performers and attendees.
