Alexandra Kazovsky and Gershon Gerchikov, violin; Jan Grüning, viola; Amit Even-Tov, cello; Orion Weiss, piano
The Washington Post praises the Ariel Quartet’s performance style, “setting ear-melting tenderness against seething passion with a deft and precise touch.” A recipient of the Cleveland Quartet Award and grand prize at the 2006 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the quartet regularly collaborates with eminent and rising musicians and ensembles including cellists Paul Katz and Alisa Weilerstein, pianists Jeremy Denk and Menahem Pressler, and the American, Pacifica, and Jerusalem String Quartets. The quartet appears with pianist Orion Weiss, who has dazzled audiences with “imaginative programme-building and intelligent artistry” (Gramophone). Weiss has appeared with the Chicago and Boston Symphonies as well as the Los Angeles and New York Philharmonics, and he is the recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant.
