The Boston Musical Intelligencer praises Kate Liu’s “super sensitive” performing style, “with power, richness, and deliberateness.” Winner of the Third Prize at Poland’s 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Liu also received the Best Mazurka Prize and the Audience Favorite Prize. Since that time, her international career has taken her to venues including the Seoul Arts Center, Montréal’s La Maison Symphonique, and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, and she has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras in Poland, Japan, Korea, Canada, and the US. In 2024 she received the Olivier Berggruen Prize, awarded annually to a rising star in the piano world, at the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, Switzerland. Her debut album, featuring Beethoven and Brahms sonatas, was released on the Orchid Classics label in 2025.
