Safe Landing:  How the Owls Saved Me is a play with music that illuminates the power of human connection by showing how kindness, compassion and empathy can foster healing among people of divergent backgrounds and give them a sense of purpose. Timmy is a songwriter who has endured a creative block for years caused by the onset of Major Depression. Depression is a monster that robs us of ourselves.  Through the healing journey of the story, Timmy rediscovers his creative fire, new friendships are won, and we learn that it is the patients, along with medication and expert therapy, that are the force for healing.  Emme, the therapist shares her story of how observing a family of owls saved her from the darkness of a childless and failed marriage. Ivan the lyricist, shares how he was responsible for his daughter’s death through negligence and receives forgiveness from his remaining daughter.  Anj takes the floor by storm and her tender heart belies her tough exterior. Ellis finds peace after years of abuse at the hands of his family.  Delilah shows the purity of the innocent heart of the artist. Casey rises above the pain to create a beautiful song.  Mighty finally feels free to be their authentic self.  Mariana, the nurse, shines a light on a life of service to others with a kind heart. Grandpa Rob shows how tough love is sometimes needed. Clayton shows tremendous healing and growth after the traumatic ordeal he endured as a Capitol Policeman. The story begins in a very dark place and ends with music, joy and love. For those in pain, help is out there and you will get better.
