What does it mean to be human, and do we recognize the power and responsibility that comes with our place in relation to animals and our environment? How would humans adapt if we were not at the top of the hierarchy, but rather animals ruled the roost? Playwright Pipsa Lonka’s “Second Nature,” explores these questions through a series of stories and images. ”Second Nature” (“Den andra naturen”), translated by Kristian London and directed by Breahan Pautsch, is a play about learning to exist in the world, the ethical choices that are hidden in our everyday lives and the moments in life that shake up our habitual behavior. The play contemplates our mortality, something we share with all the other living beings.
