If Disney can do it…Corn can skew it! Corn Productions is proud to give the people what they want…nay what they NEED…a parody of High School Musical! But wait there’s more! Not only do we mock all things HSM, we take pointed jabs at a beloved Chicago theater tradition… Storefront Theater (yes, we realize we are also a storefront theater, but who better to mock us, than us!) Put it all together and what do you get…Storefront Theater Musical!
Originally produced in 2009, Storefront Theater Musical revolves around the Upstage Theater, a small storefront theater, which is being shut down by the city unless they fix the code violations (sound familiar?) The Upstage Theater is shared by three theater companies, an improv troupe, Picasso’s Missing Ear; a company that focuses on dramas, The Really Realistic Realism Theater company; and the drag camp musical company, L’eggs in a Basket. They don’t get along, but in order to save the theater they need to work together and hold a benefit to raise funds to fix the violations.
Storefront Theater Musical, written by Robert Bouwman, Linda Rudy, and BJ Stradley with original music by Scott Lamberty, is directed by Robert Bouwman and assistant directed by Michael Keating. It features Andrew Cawley, Caitlin Dobbins, Bashany Garcia, Jacqui Jaurena, Sophie Hernando Kofman, Victor Lopez, Meme Matteson, Dorothy Owen, Dakota Pariset, Samantha Russell, Alekzander Sayers, Brendan Siddall, Matt Tatone, Thomas Tong, Jenece Upton, Maximillion Valdez, Deana Velandra, and Justus Wright with Choreography by Shelly DeHosse and Musical Direction by Sarah Inendino
