B-Series Presents: B-IL. Celebrating Chicago’s Local Legends, Legacies, Histories and Pioneers in the Street Dance Scene & Hip Hop Culture
The Dance Center at Columbia College Chicago celebrates Hip-Hop and street dance culture through a biannual mini festival: The B-Series. This spring, partnering with GIRL ILLA Tactics, BraveMovement Dance & The Center for Community Arts Partnerships, The B-Series presents a look at local Chicago legacies in the Street Dance scene and Hip Hop Culture featuring presentations, workshops, panels, and a community dance and competition called the B-IL.

Friday, April 14, 2017 through Saturday, April 15, 2017
at Columbia College Chicago & Chicago Venues

The organizers of the B-IL Jam invite you to join in this community celebration of tradition, shifting cultural landscapes, challenging conversations, and exaltations through dance and Hip-Hop culture. Activities will feature presentations, workshops, panels, a community-organizing teach-in, verbal cyphers, and build-sessions (participatory “panel” discussions), performances, social dancing, an open dance session, and battles (a form of competition specific to Hip-Hop and street-dance culture).

Whether you are a veteran street dancer who has won international titles, or someone who has never set foot inside of the scene, we invite you to participate: rocking out to the infectious music from your proscenium seat, head-bobbing on the edge of a cypher where you can feel the heat and sweat of the dancers, grooving out in a corner with your friends during the open dance moments, or throwing down in the center of the cyphers and battles.
