CVRTAIN by Yehuda Duenyas
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) presents an ongoing performing arts series that showcases both emerging and established music, theater, dance and multi-disciplinary artists at the Chicago Cultural Center and other venues. Dedicated to capacity building in the arts, DCASE hires the artists and provides performance space as well as technical and marketing support.
Friday, April 22, 2017 through Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 10:00am to 6:00pm
at the Chicago Cultural Center, Randolph Square | 78 E. Washington St., Chicago, IL 60602
CVRTAIN is a virtual reality (VR) experience starring you. Placed center stage in a beautiful theater, the curtain parts to reveal an audience of thousands teaming with adulation. Do you freeze in the spotlight or bow graciously? Emmy Award-winning experiential director Yehuda Duenyas digitally experiments with emotional states, and in CVRTAIN, he is trying to see if a feeling of adoration and love can be transmitted and felt inside of a digital environment. Using room-scale VR (HTC Vive), hand controllers and new SkullcAndy Headphones that give haptic feedback, Duenyas draws on techniques of gaming and immersive theater to deliver a highly personalized, celebratory experience for one.
This event is FREE and open to the public.
