Embodied: A Pride x Juneteenth Variety Show

Join us for Brave Space Alliance’s first annual “Embodied,” a Juneteenth x Pride Celebration held at Thalia Hall! Brave Space Alliance strives to empower, embolden, and educate each other through mutual aid, knowledge-sharing, and the creation of community-sourced resources as we build a world of dignity for all. We are leading a movement for the rights and liberation of the entire trans and LGBQ+ community.
This performance will feature the talents of Chicago’s finest Black Trans, Gender-nonconforming, and Queer artists! We envision a city where Black and Brown trans and LGBQ+ lives are fully valued, fiercely protected, and powerfully equipped to thrive. Celebrate Pride Month and Juneteenth with a fierce lineup of drag, burlesque, music, and dance artists.

The School of Memory

The School of Memory is a family biography turned murder mystery, a new multimedia work where director-performer Héctor Alvarez explores his family’s complex relationship with Spanish fascism. Weaving documentary theater with critical fabulation, Alvarez reconstructs the circumstances surrounding his great-grandfather’s death at the hands of Fascist troops during the Spanish Civil War, and excavates buried truths about family, memory, and historical violence.
