Everyone has a story to tell. What if you could tell your story and watch it come to life before your eyes? This Pride month, at a time when queer lives and rights face growing threats across the country, the Chicago Playback Theatre Ensemble (CPTE) responds with “Amplify Queer Joy”—an evening of storytelling and improvisational theatre that celebrates resilience and radical joy in the queer community.

The Chicago Playback Theatre Ensemble builds community by bringing real stories to life on the spot. Our mission is to use our unique approach to storytelling to spark dialogue, broaden perspectives, and promote healing by celebrating and validating the truths of the stories we receive.

The Chicago Playback Theatre Ensemble is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has collaborated with community partners in the greater Chicago area since 2019 to create performances and educational workshops designed to engage audiences deeply and make a positive impact. Much of their work focuses on supporting mental health advocacy, underserved youth, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
