For generations, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s brass section has been celebrated for its power, precision and brilliance. Featuring music by J.S. Bach, Alvin Etler, Don La Fosse and Aaron Copland, this program explores the evolution of the brass quintet across more than two centuries of music. Included are selections from Rodeo and Our Town, two works that helped shape Copland’s enduring portrait of American life, from the energy of the frontier to the rhythms of small-town America.
