Set in 1920s Hollywood during the transition from silent films to “talkies,” Singin’ in the Rain follows the story of Don Lockwood, a charming silent film star whose career is threatened when talking pictures become the new standard. Alongside his longtime co-star Lina Lamont—whose shrill voice and diva attitude make her unsuited for sound films—Don must adapt or risk fading into obscurity.
With help from his witty best friend Cosmo Brown and aspiring actress Kathy Selden, Don devises a plan to dub Lina’s voice with Kathy’s and transform their current film disaster into a hit musical. Romance blossoms between Don and Kathy, while comedy ensues as they navigate technical challenges, showbiz egos, and the chaotic early days of sound cinema.
Filled with iconic songs like “Good Morning,” “Make ’Em Laugh,” and the unforgettable title number “Singin’ in the Rain,” the musical is a joyful celebration of Hollywood’s golden age, perseverance, and the magic of performance.
