Step into an unforgettable night of cinema and conversation at the Kehrein Center for the Arts Foundation (KCAF), where we proudly present a screening of Sinners (2025), followed by an engaging discussion exploring its cultural, historical, and spiritual themes through the lens of the Black experience.

Rooted in our mission to foster artistic expression and civic engagement that animates the human spirit while centering Black voices—particularly those from the Austin neighborhood and beyond—this event brings together storytelling and reflection in powerful ways.

About the Film:
Set in 1932 Clarksdale, Mississippi, Sinners follows identical twins and World War I veterans Smoke and Stack Moore, who return home after years with the Chicago Outfit. Using stolen mob money, they open a juke joint for the local Black community—an act of resistance, reclamation, and celebration. But as music and memory awaken the spirits of the past, they find themselves battling not only local racism and personal grief, but also supernatural forces led by a white vampire immigrant exploiting Black pain and desire for transcendence.

Blending historical trauma with gothic horror, the film explores the collision of spirituality, music, and survival. Themes of cultural preservation, generational conflict, interracial dynamics, the exploitation of Black creativity, and the seductive lure of power versus liberation are at the heart of this haunting, soulful narrative.

This is a FREE screening.
